Between kids' sizes and women's cuts, there was nothing
Ask any teen who has stood in a changing room between the children's rack and the women's section: one is too small and covered in cartoons, the other is cut for a body she doesn't have yet. Nothing sits right. Nothing stays put when you actually swim.
We design for ages 10 and up, on real teen bodies, in real water — so you can dive, paddle out and climb back on the boat without a single adjustment. Never too big. Never too small.
It started with a swimsuit that didn't fit
Vera was thirteen, living by the ocean, and swimming every single day. Every suit she owned either rode up, gaped, or came off in the surf. Her friends had the same complaint. Nobody was designing for them.
Drawn in a school notebook
The first Tanline designs were sketched between classes — higher backs, wider straps, ties that actually hold. We took them to a local tailor, made three samples, and tested every one of them in the ocean until they earned their place.
Designed by teens, for teens
Every style is fitted on a crew of girls aged 10 to 18 — different heights, different shapes, all growing at their own pace. If it doesn't pass a backflip off the pier, it doesn't get made.
Made where it's worn
Tanline is made in Bali, sewn in small batches by makers we know by name. We’re slow fashion on purpose — small runs, local fabric makers, and pieces made to be worn for more than one summer.
